One of the questions we’re asked most often is,“How much will it cost to resize my ring?” While we’d love to give an instant answer, the truth is that it simply isn’t possible to provide an accurate quotation without seeing both your ring and your finger in person.
Every Ring Is Different
No two rings are exactly the same. The type of metal, the width of the band, the setting, the gemstones, and even the amount of resizing required all affect the work involved. To provide an accurate and fair quotation, we first need to examine the ring in our workshop.
Professional Finger Sizing Matters
A ring that fits perfectly is about much more than a rough measurement. We always professionally size your finger in-store to ensure the best possible fit.
While plastic ring sizers and guesswork can give a general idea, they simply aren’t accurate enough for a piece of jewellery you’ll wear every day. Finger size can also be affected by temperature, time of day, and the width of the ring itself, so taking a professional measurement is the best way to achieve a comfortable, secure fit.
Gold and Platinum Prices Change Daily
Precious metal prices fluctuate every day. Before we can quote for a resize, we need to identify exactly what metal your ring is made from and determine how much additional material will be required. This ensures our quotations are both accurate and up to date.
We Never Stretch Rings
Some jewellers may offer to stretch a ring to increase its size, but this isn’t something we do at Shaw Jewellers.
Stretching weakens the metal and can put unnecessary stress on the ring, increasing the risk of damage—particularly on treasured family heirlooms or sentimental pieces. Instead, we resize rings using the correct traditional techniques, preserving both the strength and integrity of your jewellery.
How Long Does It Take?
In many cases, we can provide a resizing quotation while you wait. However, if our working jeweller is away from the workshop, your estimate may take a day or so while we assess the ring properly.
Once approved, ring resizing is usually completed withintwo weeks, ensuring your jewellery receives the care and attention it deserves.
Quality Over Guesswork
At Shaw Jewellers, we believe your jewellery deserves the highest standard of craftsmanship. Taking the time to inspect your ring, professionally measure your finger, and provide an accurate quotation means there are no surprises—and you can be confident your ring will be resized safely and correctly.
If you’d like your ring resized, simply pop into the shop with your ring. We’ll professionally measure your finger, assess the piece, and provide an accurate quotation as soon as possible.
