What’s Hiding in Your Jewellery Box?
Rediscover your forgotten treasures with Shaw Jewellers.
We all have that one jewellery box, drawer or little pouch tucked away somewhere at home. Inside might be a broken necklace, a ring that no longer fits, an inherited piece of jewellery or something we simply haven’t worn for years.
But have you ever stopped to think about what might be hiding in there?
AtShaw Jewellers, we believe beautiful jewellery deserves to be worn, loved and enjoyed — not forgotten at the bottom of a drawer.
And sometimes, all it takes is a little professional attention to bring a treasured piece back to life.
That Ring You’ve Been Meaning to Repair…
Perhaps you’ve stopped wearing your favourite ring because a stone feels loose, a claw has worn down or it no longer fits comfortably.
These are some of the most common problems we see in our workshop, and many can be repaired.
In fact, having your jewellery checked regularly can help identify potential problems before they become more serious.
A worn claw might not seem particularly important, but if it fails, you could lose a precious gemstone.
Why not bring your rings into the shop for an initial inspection?
Old Jewellery, New Beginnings
One of our favourite things to do at Shaw Jewellers is transform jewellery that is no longer worn into something beautiful and personal.
Perhaps you’ve inherited your grandmother’s ring, but the design isn’t quite your style.
Or maybe you have several old gold rings that you’d love to combine into one special piece.
Depending on the jewellery, we can explore reusing your existing precious metals and gemstones to create something completely new.
It’s a wonderful way to preserve the sentimental value of family jewellery while creating something you’ll genuinely enjoy wearing.
And there’s something rather special about knowing that a brand-new piece of jewellery has a story stretching back generations.
Has Your Jewellery Lost Its Sparkle?
Even the most beautiful diamonds can start to look dull over time.
Everyday products such as hand creams, soap and cosmetics can build up around gemstone settings, making jewellery appear less brilliant than it really is.
Professional cleaning can make a remarkable difference.
At Shaw Jewellers, we offer jewellery cleaning from£20, alongside polishing and rhodium plating services where appropriate.
Sometimes, your jewellery doesn’t need replacing — it simply needs a little TLC!
Do You Know What Your Jewellery Is Worth?
Jewellery that’s been tucked away for years might also be worth having professionally valued.
With changes in gold prices and jewellery replacement costs, an older insurance valuation may no longer accurately reflect the cost of replacing your treasured pieces.
Our professional jewellery valuation service is carried out by Charlotte, a qualified gemmologist and diamond grader with 18 years of experience in the jewellery trade.
We provide detailed valuation documents, complete with photographs and descriptions, for insurance and probate purposes.
Insurance valuations start from£125 for the first item and £40 for each additional item.
